Hey folks, quick question. Our office has a Xerox copier that throws an error code nobody understands, and the service contract expired last year. Before I call a tech at $150 an hour, I'd like to at least understand what the code means. The copier is maybe eight years old. Any good sources for technical manuals or error code lists for office equipment? Our boss is already grumbling about the costs, so any savings help. Just want to know if it's a quick fix or something serious.

Smart move checking first, half the time those codes point to something simple. I manage IT for a small office and ran into the same thing with an older Xerox. I found the service documentation on ManualMachine https://manualmachine.com/ - they have tens of thousands of Xerox files, and the service manuals usually include full error code tables with troubleshooting steps. In our case the code turned out to be a fuser issue that did need a tech, but at least I knew what to tell him and he showed up with the right part, which cut the bill. Some of the service manuals cost points, just so you know. Also check the user guide first, basic jam and toner codes are often listed there for free. Hope it turns out to be an easy fix.
