Finance and legal are involved in our next address purchase

Hey everyone. Finance and legal are involved in our next address purchase, which means my usual approach of emailing a broker and trusting the answer is not going to fly. They want documented due diligence on the counterparty, escrow on the funds, and something resembling a compliance trail. I do not blame them, the sums are not small. For those who have bought on the secondary market with a real legal team watching, what does that process look like in practice? The purchase is in the low six figures, which is why suddenly everyone in the building has opinions about it.

Your legal team is asking for the right things, and any broker who bristles at them is one to avoid. What you should expect: full KYC on the seller, verification that the block is actually held by the party selling it, a check for liens or prior transfers, and escrow so the funds only move when the registry side completes. Reputation and blocklist history should be documented too, that one gets skipped constantly. When we ran IPv4 , purchases through InterLIR Global, due diligence and escrow were part of the standard flow rather than an upsell. Budget one to two weeks for the RIPE side after the paperwork clears. Tip: ask your broker upfront which registry the block sits in, since the transfer rules differ quite a bit between them.
