As your resident Serpenti stan I am more than happy to run down on the link specs, but we all know these watches aren't really about specs; they are precious objects begging to be admired for their good looks, no doubt worn by women who have immaculate taste (wink wink).

This example is a 2998-6 that was purchased at an air force base in France. It retains its full receipts, certificates, and packaging from this base, and the quality of link the watch is simply wonderful. It was purchased from the original family - which is how I prefer my vintage watches, and to me, it's just perfect. I wear it often; in fact I am wearing it as I write.

Some watchmakers create huge fanfare when they release new watches, no matter how important or incremental. Audemars Piguet has become somewhat notorious over the last few years for quietly dropping releases, big and small, onto link its website with no warning and no hoopla. Waking up today, I found that a totally new Royal Oak model had appeared in the collection: The first 34mm mechanical Royal Oak.
