Babbel Subscription Auto-Renewal Confusion

Signed up for Babbel a while back and just noticed that my subscription renewed automatically. I thought I had selected a one-time plan, but apparently, it was set to auto-renew. Does anyone know if there’s an easy way to cancel and get a refund, or is it just locked in once the charge goes through?

I got super motivated to learn Italian, signed up for Babbel, and actually kept up with it for a few months. Life got hectic, and I stopped using it, assuming my subscription would just end. Then one morning, I checked my bank account and saw a renewal charge I wasn’t expecting, babbel customer service told me auto-renewal is the default setting, but they were able to process a partial refund since I hadn’t used the app recently. Now, anytime I subscribe to anything, I immediately set a calendar reminder a few days before renewal—it saves a lot of unnecessary surprises!
