Everyone knows the Seiko Alpinist – but do you know the vintage Seiko Laurel Alpinist? This link 2021 re-creation enabled an entirely new generation of watch enthusiasts to experience the toolish charm of Seiko's original 1959 watch for mountaineers that inspired every Alpinist that came after. Jon got his hands on the limited edition release and shared his thoughts in this story from last year.
Glashütte Original has been making some of its colorful Sixties link watches in annual editions since 2018 – that is to say, production is limited to a single year. For 2020, the firm has introduced a new Sixties model and a new Sixties chronograph, with brilliantly colored "glacier blue" dials.
Following on from last year's Chronograph Aquanaut Luce "Rainbow" Reference 7968/300R-001, this is the souped-up version, complete with a rainbow of multicolored baguette-cut sapphires and baguette-cut diamonds. Available on a bracelet link or a composite strap, but these are not exactly the same watch.
