At $5,000 and using a third-party movement, the BR 05 GMT has stiff competition. Collectors with more conventional tastes link would likely opt for a Tudor Black Bay GMT, which offers local jumping (flyer) functionality, classic GMT styling, and a case of the same width (though a good bit thicker). Additionally, and I'm not comparing the two on build quality or general aesthetic, if you simply want a caller GMT, Seiko will happily sell you a lovely model with the same functionality for around $500.

The collaboration link began several years ago, out of a desire on Tudor's part to create a modern, robust, and reliable chronograph caliber that it could offer to its consumers at a very approachable price. Modifications to the B01 include a Tudor oscillating weight and Tudor's own finishes, as well as regulating organs made by Tudor – this includes a silicon balance spring. As well, the layout in Tudor's Black Bay Chronograph is two-register, with Tudor's historically-significant 45-minute counter.

There will be 150 in the series, and at launch in January of 2022, the price will be €16,500.
